Does Sipping On Lemon Slim Your Tooth?
Lemon is widely used to burn body fat by drinking it with warm water early morning. Lemon is an acidic fruit with natural sugars and two kinds of acids – citric acid and ascorbic acid (Vit C) making it very high in acid with a pH ranging from 2-3. The lower the level of pH, the higher it is in acidity. The high level of acid can damage the outer layer of the tooth (enamel) by making it porous leading to tooth erosion. Tooth erosion can lead to high levels of sensitivity. According to the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) , when the environment in your mouth is too acidic, remineralization of enamel portion of the tooth will not occur. Did you know that if your mouth becomes acidic it can take up to one hour to come back to normal pH levels?
A few tips to take care of your teeth after an acidic drink:
Drink water to neutralize the acidity. Use a straw to avoid touching teeth. Don’t brush your teeth immediately after drinking lemon juice or any acidic drink, wait for at least one hour before you brush.
